Wesley's Story

My spiritual journey began in 2004. I had become very disillusioned with the religious upbringing I was raised within. Feeling a deep connection to the values of compassion, humility, integrity, and service to others that were taught, yet seeing and experiencing quite the opposite being exemplified. Looking for a deeper resonance and alignment of word and action, I began to discover teachings within eastern philosophies, primarily Taoism and Buddhism. The Tao Te Ching became a pillar of learning and unlearning in my life.

Through the teachings that Buddha brought forth regarding the Bodhisattva nature, it became evidently clear to me that not one of us is an island unto ourselves. The meditation of this path and inquiry led me to an awareness of the importance of harmony not only within ourselves and our relations but also with this Earth. I became very passionate about sustainability and living in balance with this Earth.

I spent close to two years living off the grid, studying permaculture, eco-forestry, and natural building. I began to teach and lead classes and workshops on these topics and eventually got involved in a land-based project to implement and develop these systems. While developing this land, I was invited to take some of these teachings on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

I was then extended an invitation to bring these teachings and simultaneously document a relief trip to Southern Sudan in Africa. This happened to be in 2009. It was the same year that Human Rights Watch had declared Southern Sudan the world's most dangerous place due to the constant attacks of the terrorist organization known as the LRA. The region of Ezo had become flooded with refugees from years of attacks in the Democratic Republic of Congo by the LRA. The LRA then moved their attacks to this region and these camps. This was a huge test of faith and protection in Spirit for myself and a pivotal moment in my path. We were able to enter Ezo and bring two tons of seeds, hand tools, and simple communication devices.

After this trip, my life took yet another turn. After relocating to Southern California, I began to study and work within sound healing through a practice known as Acutonics. This methodology is based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine meridian systems, working with specific frequencies that represent a natural harmonic series based on orbital properties of the Earth, Moon, Sun, and planets. I began a private practice, facilitated retreats and workshops, and served hundreds of people over the years with truly amazing results.

In 2012, I was introduced to the plant medicine of the Amazon Jungle, which brought profound healing to my life and a beautiful synergy of many of my passions and values. This path opened for me and became a pillar of study and learning.

In 2014, I began the journey of a lifetime by becoming a father to my son. All of this spiritual work again culminated in the life practice of family and fatherhood. It was in the same year that I lost my father to cancer. This was not the first time I had lost a loved one, as my mother transitioned from cancer when I was 7 years old. As much as I thought I had come to relate to death in a healthy way, this reopened so much for me to look at. Becoming a father while simultaneously saying goodbye to my own father was a profound experience. It was a time of deep grieving and developing a much deeper connection to my emotional being. This period led me to explore teachings from figures like Ram Dass and his lineage of awareness and meditation, engaging in developmental trauma work and somatic healing. Reading books like "The Body Keeps Score" and discovering the work of Gabor Mate became essential in my healing journey.

In 2016, my medicine path developed into something much deeper after meeting William Llerena Murayari, a Mestizo/Cocama palero and curandero from Peru. He became a close friend and teacher in the ceremonial ways and life. I began to tour and support him. He assured me that to continue my study, it was necessary to learn more about the plants and to begin the process of dietas with the master plants and trees of these traditions. These dietas have been the most profound teachings and initiations I have yet to partake in. The transformation and healing that occurred during these times completely shifted my being, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Through deep humility and connection to these energies, so much was made clear and brought to the light of my consciousness, to heal and to integrate. Since then, I have continued in this study. After some years, I was invited to continue my path by opening my own altar and sharing these sacred ways. Since 2019, I have been consistently offering retreats, serving many hundreds of people as well as working with individuals in preparation and post-integration to ensure the most integrity with this sacred work. I am always a student, always learning, and always staying close to these ways and teachings.

Through these many years of service and working intimately with many individuals on their healing paths, another inspiration began to reveal itself. Now, I am thrilled to introduce myself in the context of AYAM Lab, where I consider it a tremendous privilege to bring this vision to life. I firmly believe that cultivating self-awareness is the foundation for creating a positive and lasting impact on society. Drawing upon my diverse expertise and personal experiences, my aim is to empower individuals to gain a profound understanding of themselves, their relationships, and the intricate workings of the world around them. Through my work at Ayam Lab, I aspire to facilitate the development of an elevated level of consciousness, empowering individuals to unlock their true potential.

With unwavering dedication, I am committed to providing guidance, knowledge, and resources that foster growth, resilience, and personal evolution. Together, let us embark on this transformative journey, embracing the power of self-discovery and unlocking new possibilities for a brighter future.
